Day of Mindfulness (in person) with Dharma Teacher Tuyen Nguyen – Chan Hao (Dharma Teacher in the Plum Village Tradition)Invitation intro paragraph
July 17 – 19, 2026

Summer is here! We wish you special moments with nature, simple road trips with calm and relaxing energy.
Retreat and Day of Mindfulness at Dharma River Centre
Friday July 17 through Sunday July 19.
Lotus Flowers Grow Through Dirty Murky Water.
Suffering can feel unpleasant. Suffering is difficult! We try to run away, or cover it up with countless types of consumption. Food, shopping, binging, scrolling don’t bring the contentment we are searching for.
Imagine ourselves sitting by a lotus pond full of fragrant blossoms, beautiful flowers, with elegant leaves covering the surface, and insects hovering just above. We become aware that these pristine flowers grow through the dirty, dark muck of the pond. Gazing at the lotus pond, one cannot separate the water, the mud, the flowers…. a lotus pond is a wonderful manifestation.
In addition to our familiar practices of sitting meditation, Dharma talks and sharing, and mindful eating, we will enjoy the energy of the river singing and playing games around the campfire.
We hope to practice with many of you and please invite your friends.
In metta,
Tuyen Nguyen on behalf of MPC
