Supporting the building of Blue Cliff Monastery nun’s residence

Blue Cliff Monastery is building a new nun’s residence, Moon Lake Residence, and they need our help! The residence will be a big improvement in both quality and quantity of accommodation for our dear sister nuns. It will also free up rooms in the buildings where nuns are currently being housed. This will make it possible for more lay people to attend retreats.

Here is a drawing of the Moon Lake Residence. As you can imagine, the cost is significant (about US $3 million), but it is dwarfed by the benefit it will bring to our entire community. So far, Blue Cliff Monastery has raised more than half, and construction has begun! They need our support to reach their goal.

New nun's residence at Blue Cliff

Blue Cliff Monastery is the closest Plum Village monastery to us. Located in the beautiful Catskill mountains in NY state. We discovered this project when we visited in April for Linda’s ordination as a member of the Order of Interbeing. It reminded us what a precious gift it is to be in contact with monastics and fellow practitioners, especially in such a beautiful setting.

We like to invite you to donate what you can! Thanks to True Peace Sangha and their charitable status, we were able to set up a special donation page for MPC. When you donate through this page, you’ll receive a tax receipt from CanadaHelps.org. There is no minimum to get a tax receipt.

“The first petal of the flower of the paramitas is dana paramita, the practice of giving. Whether you give your presence, your stability, your freshness, your solidity, your freedom, or your understanding, your gift can work a miracle. Dana paramita is the practice of love.

– Thich Nhat Hanh

Whatever you can give will help and will be appreciated by the nuns. More info at Moon Lake – Nunnery project. (You can donate directly to Blue Cliff Monastery, but then you won’t get a Canadian tax receipt.)
